Franklin Express, is a motor common carrier of general commodities domiciled in Franklin, Kentucky .  David T. Coots, now retired, started Franklin Express on November 6, 1961 with an office person, two truck drivers, two tractors, three semi-trailers and one straight truck.  Working with partner carriers over the Nashville, Tennessee gateway, Franklin Express immediately began providing LTL and TL  service between Franklin and cities throughout the United States. 

Today, Franklin Express continues to provide LTL service primarily in the Southeast and Midwest, but also handles truckloads directly between Franklin and cities in seven states.  Dedicated to Franklin, Kentucky customers, 100% of Franklin Express' Shipments either originate or terminate in this South Central Kentucky city located on Interstate 65, 20 miles from Bowling Green and 45 miles from Nashville.

Current and past customers include some of the great names in American Industry, such as Tyco International, Perfetti Van Melle USA, Stone Jefferson-Smurfit, Quebecor Printing, Weyerhaeuser, Arvin-Meritor, Dana Films, Sealed Power, Colgate-Palmolive, Kendall Company, Dayton-Walther, Alliance Rubber, Drackett Company, Bristol-Myers, Johnson & Johnson, Beiersdorf, Outokumpu Copper Franklin Brass and others. 

In 1989, Franklin Express began warehouse operations in a new 60,000 square foot building providing storage of raw materials and finished goods for several customers.   With over 240,000 square feet under roof today, nationwide distribution is provided with past and present products stored including candy, industrial tapes, magazines, catalogs, plastic bags copper tubing, cleaning compounds, roll paper and fiberboard boxes.   Our modern warehouse facilities were built by sister company, Franklin Properties, which has the same ownership as Franklin Express, Inc.
